Even El Chorro is world famous amongst climber for being a perfect winter destination for climbing, it’s probably even more famous for the King’s Walkway ( El Camino del Rey / El Caminito del Rey ). El Camino del Rey is a narrow man-made walkway that clings to the wall of «The Gorge» ( Gorge of Gaitanes ) 100m above the Guadalhorce river below. The walkway was finish in 1905 after four years of working, and it was built to give local workers access between the Chorro falls and Gaitanejo Falls. The Walkway got it’s name after that Spanish King Alfonso Xlll officially opened the the dams and crossed the walkway in 1921. The walkway, even it’s in terrible shape, is now used by many climbers to give access to some amazing climbs inside the gorge. Two really popular multi-pitch routs are Africa and Zeppelin.

This Winter Maja and I spent some great days climbing and hiking in El Chorro , and here are some pictures I took from one of our trips into El Camino del Rey. Fasten your seat belts!!
